An Important Announcement Regarding Fellowship Copyrights and Compliance
The mission and directives of the Board Copyright and Translation Committee:
The Board Copyright and Translation Committee (BCTC) focuses on protecting and maintaining copyright and trademarks and following up on royalties from the translation of literature.
The BCTC focuses on five directives. The Fellowship and Board of Trustees have entrusted the BCTC to ensure the following are accomplished.
- Copyright, trademark, and service mark protection
- Licensing and assignment agreement authorization
- Translation requests and submission approvals
- Website guidelines of material copyrights
- S.L.A.A. Core Documents, Basic Text, and theJournal copyright oversight.

Max B., Chair of the BCTC, here in service to our Fellowship.
I would first like to thank our Executive Director, Pam R., for the diligent work accomplished daily to ensure the Fellowship’s copyrights, trademarks, and service marks are protected. As Chair, and through being in regular contact with Pam R., I know the many hours required to protect our Fellowship assets. The workload would be lessened simply through compliance within the Fellowship.
We have Policies and Guidelines in place, which can be found on our website. They are freely available and should be distributed to those in service at all levels. Over the last few months, we have had several compliance issues that could have been avoided simply by fellows having an understanding of the Policies and Guidelines. As a Fellowship, we need to ensure compliance.
It is the fiduciary responsibility of the Board of Trustees to ensure full compliance with the Policies and Guidelines, as our intellectual property makes up a significant part of the fellowships income. The Policies and Guidelines can be found on the S.L.A.A. FWS website at https://slaafws.org/guidelines/, and our trusted servants at all levels should be familiar with them.
On the translation front, I would like to thank all of our fellows who are translating our literature. We have a process for translating our literature, and the checks and balances are in place to ensure the message of our Fellowship is carried consistently. We must remember that ownership of our assets includes all translations.
