It has been a productive and busy few months for the Board Publishing and Distribution Committee (BPDC). Our committee remains dedicated to our mission of preparing Conference-approved literature for sale and distribution in both print and digital formats, ensuring the S.L.A.A. message reaches those who need it worldwide. Here is a look at what we have been working since the last issue of the newsletter:
Print-on-Demand (POD)
A major focus has been streamlining our international distribution to reduce high shipping costs and import taxes for members outside the U.S. In service of this goal, we are hoping to make all major book titles—including the Basic Text, the forthcoming Texto Básico, A State of Grace, Step Questions Workbook, and A Framework for Living — available to international intergroups and individuals via IngramSpark and Lulu respectively. This strategy allows for local, on-demand printing in the UK, Australia, and other regions, which not only speeds up delivery but also reduces costs by eliminating transcontinental shipping fees and lost shipments. We are also actively investigating specialized logistics for South America to better serve our Spanish-speaking fellowship there.
New and Updated Literature
We are thrilled to report significant progress on several key titles:
●A State of Grace (2nd Edition): The committee has approved the final manuscript and a “redline” version for the Conference Literature Committee (CLC) to review.
●Spanish Step Questions Workbook: This project is now moving into the layout design phase. We are coordinating with Spanish-speaking designers to ensure the translation is accurate and accessible to the Spanish-speaking community.
●Texto Básico: The Spanish Basic Text is being prepared for worldwide distribution through POD platforms, ensuring it remains available to international members without the burden of excessive customs fees or shipping times.
●A Framework for Living: Now available in the U.S. and soon to be available internationally via POD.
Committee News
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Lee W., who recently stepped down after five years of incredible service to the BPDC. At the same time, we are happy to welcome Sharon S. as our newest committee member.
The BPDC is committed to carrying the message by making our literature more affordable, profitable, and accessible. Thank you for your continued support as we work to serve the fellowship.
