As always, I want to thank our 2025-2026 BDC members for their service:

The BDC recommended that Kathleen A. from California, USA, be forwarded to the Board of Trustees (BOT) to be considered for the vacant BOT position. The BOT approved their appointment through the 2028 Annual Business Conference/Meeting (ABC/M) and they will need to be confirmed at the 2026 ABC/M. We now have a full BOT contingent of nine members.
Kathleen A. was one of our Whistleblower Investigators prior to her BOT appointment but had to leave that role now that they’re on the BOT. This means we only have one Whistleblower Investigator (Karma K.) out of the required three on that team. For that reason, the BDC will be focused on replacing Kathleen and finding another Investigator so we can have a full contingent. The position description is in this Newsletter.
BDC Mission Statement unanimously approved 16 December 2025:
The Board Development Committee (BDC) focuses on the internal activities, systems and procedures of the Board of Trustees (BOT) to ensure its long-term effectiveness. Specifically, the Committee:
- Determines the need for new Trustees, identifies the necessary qualifications, and recruits candidates.
- Functions as a nominating committee by presenting candidates to the Conference or BOT.
- Facilitates the nomination, appointment, and election of BOT members.
• Leads succession planning and addresses issues related to BOT terms of service.
• Identifies and helps develop Fellowship members with future service potential.
• Reviews the BOT’s functions and effectiveness, and assists the BOT Chair, as needed, to manage the annual BOT self-assessment process and strategic planning.
• Reviews By-Laws, internal policies and procedures, then recommends amendments as necessary.
• Designs, updates, and oversees the new BOT member orientation, assisting the new members in becoming fully integrated both functionally and socially.
• Reviews and updates BOT forms.
• Creates and organizes S.L.A.A. Archives.
