The Board cares about the safety of all members of the Fellowship and is

prepared to take immediate and appropriate action if any individual or group

is experiencing harassment during the 2026 Virtual ABC/M. Our Conference

endeavors to provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all

attendees and encourages everyone to contribute to that atmosphere. As our

Traditions remind us, responsibility for the formation and operation of a group

resides with the group conscience. Therefore, we ask that attendees refrain

from behavior that compromises the safety, dignity, or participation of others.

Also, please take any precautions you feel necessary to ensure your personal

safety. If you feel your safety is at risk, or if a situation breaches the law,

appropriate action should be taken. Contacting the appropriate authorities

does not violate any Tradition.

We ask that all comments, chats, and communications during the ABC/M

remain respectful and free from threats, insults, or personal attacks.

If necessary, a special breakout room may be used to address concerns with

The BOT met for the final time this Conference Year on Sunday, 26 July 2026, for ten hours.  In addition to several IFDs and motions, we heard reports from our Executive Director and IT Contractor, and heard BOT Committee reports and Conference Committee Liaison reports.  Also, our Treasurer, Jeff R., provided a presentation on our finances for the first nine months of our fiscal year (fiscal year runs from 1 October through 30 September).

We also announced that James B. has decided to withdraw his application for the BOT so will not be a candidate at the 2026 ABC/M.  A big thanks to James for your service – you will be missed!

BOT Chair’s Comments

Happy 50th anniversary to S.L.A.A.!

As you probably know, S.L.A.A. had its very first meeting on 28 December 1976.  We have been and will be celebrating our anniversary all year – and beyond!  Our primary celebration is mid-August at our International Recovery Convention (IRC) (irc.slaafws.org).  Whether you attend in-person or online, you’ll have the opportunity to hear our original member briefly speak at the Saturday night banquet and participate in a 75-minute interview during Sunday’s closing.  Both presentations are audio only.  You’ll also find commemorative 50th anniversary merchandise available at our store (webstore.slaafws.org).  Having attended a couple of IRCs, I can honestly say they are a wonderful experience!

In last year’s report, I discussed our efforts to stabilize F.W.S.’s finances during the 2024–2025 Conference Year. Prior to the 2024 ABC/M, we experienced a significant decline in contributions. Fortunately, the generous support of several Intergroups and Groups helped restore our financial stability.

As we conclude the 2025–2026 Conference Year, our financial position remains considerably stronger than it was at the start of Conference Year 2024. We were even able to repay the $50,000 loan taken from our Prudent Reserve in 2023 to help cover the costs of the 2023 Orange County in-person ABC/M. However, we are projecting an approximately 13% decrease in contributions compared to last year, primarily due to reduced giving from individual members. If you would like to support Fellowship-Wide Services, you can learn more about our 1976 contribution campaign at https://slaafws.org/donate/.

Again, this year, Treasurer Jeff R. (WA) and I participated in the inventory count in October at F.W.S. in San Antonio, TX, at our own cost.  We were blessed enough to spend time with our wonderful San Antonio team: Pam (Executive Director), Christina (Administrative Assistant) and Hector (Logistics Manager).  Our IT Contractor from Pennsylvania also joined us.

An unexpected development occurred in November 2025 when F.W.S. (and New York Intergroup) was named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a non-member in the New York Supreme Court (Jiaci Liu v. The Augustine Fellowship S.L.A.A. Fellowship-Wide Services, Inc., et al.). Fortunately, our insurance carrier covered our legal defense. The law firm retained by our insurer filed a motion to dismiss the case, as did the New York Intergroup. On July 11, 2026, the court granted both motions, dismissing the claims against us.

It continues to be an honor to serve on the Board of Trustees, and this has certainly been a busy Conference Year. Since the 2025 ABC/M, the Board has approved no less than 123 motions, with approximately half being unanimous email motions. During the year, two Trustees resigned, but we successfully appointed three new Trustees, allowing us to enter this ABC/M with a full nine-member Board.  We also appointed a new Whistleblower Investigator but we’re still looking for two others.

If you have at least three years of continuous, self-defined sobriety in S.L.A.A., I encourage you to consider applying to serve on the BOT (https://slaafws.org/bot/). S.L.A.A. needs dedicated trusted servants. Serving on the BOT has allowed me to work alongside some truly remarkable people; and for me personally, it has been the ultimate way to stay “in the center of the herd,” providing strong support for my own recovery.

Finally, I want to thank my fellow Trustees for giving me the opportunity to serve as BOT Chair for these last two Conference Years. It has been a privilege to serve alongside each of you, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me.
